WhatsApp Check Marks Explained, How To Avoid Blue Check Marks

When WhatsApp released a new function last week which showed if a message was read by the recipient, a lot of users took to social media and complained. No more excuses that you didn’t read the message, with the new blue check marks it was confirmed that you had received and read the message.

So what do all the different check marks mean and can you avoid showing the sender that you have actually read the message?

  •  This simply means that the message as successfully sent
  •  The message has been delivered to the recipients phone
  •  The recipient has now actually read your message

If for whatever reason you do not want to show that you have read the message, there is a simple trick to achieve that: when you receive the WhatsApp message, turn on the flight mode before you open the app. Once the flight mode is on you are now not transmitting any data and can read the entire message. Leave WhatsApp again and turn off the flight mode. The blue check marks will not come up.
