HP is going to split into two public companies called “Hewlett-Packard Enterprise” and HP Inc.
The enterprise company is going to focus on servers, storage, networking, converged systems, services and software as well as its OpenStack Helion cloud platform.
HP Inc. will focus on the PC and printing products.
In recent weeks, it was rumored that HP was close to finalizing a merger with EMC, a deal that fell through just before the finish line.
HP CEO Meg Whitman has been trying to breath new life into HP since she was first appointed three years ago. With the split she is hoping both companies are going to be more efficient and able to innovate in their respective fields.
