Toshiba has released a new tablet, the Encore Mini. It seems the Japanese company is serious about taking some market share in the tablet space as this must be one of the most interesting devices on the market.
As the penetration for tablets continues to grow and smartphones with larger screens have impacted the tablet sales as well, companies are looking at ways to get either new tablet users, make them upgrade or have a second device.
The 7″ Toshiba Encore Mini is running Windows 8.1, the display has a resolution of 1,024 x 600, a 2 MP camera and 16 GB of storage.
This is not a tablet you compare to the flagship models out there, that is not where Toshiba is positioning the product either. So why is it one of the most interesting tablets on the market? The company says it will be available for $119 in the US, that makes it the most affordable 7″ tablet from a well-known brand. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7″ for example retails for $149 and the Nexus 7 for $199. And on top of that, with the Toshiba Encore Mini you get 1 year of Microsoft Office 365 for free. That alone usually costs $99.
