Facebook has been forcing users to install the messenger app since last week. If you were just using the regular app and received a message, you simply couldn’t read it. Instead a notification came up which asked users to install the messenger app. People were upset to say the least. Not only because you would now have to use two separate apps for just checking timelines, posts and chatting with your friends but also because people had issues with the new policies that come with Facebook messenger.
Well there is actually an easy workaround so you don’t have to install the messenger and can just keep chatting through the original app.
Here is what you have to do:
- Download Facebook Messenger
- Cancel the download before it has completed
That actually enables the chatting function in the original app. Seems Facebook has already noticed though so make sure you stay on the old version of the Facebook app and do not download the latest (13.1).
