Nokia is the best selling smartphone! At least for the entry level market…

During Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference, CEO Kevin Turner announced that the Nokia Lumia 520 is currently the best selling Nokia smartphone. They have registered over 12 million users for the sub $100 device which  according to the company makes it the most sold smartphone in that segment.

Photographs have already circulated of what is said to be the next generation, the Lumia 530 and a recent FCC filing of the company is pointing in that direction as well.

As a result the Lumia 520 has dropped even further in price, it can be found for around $50 already and you have to wonder how much profit the company is really making here.

While it is great to have solid offerings in the entry level market we would like to see Nokia succeed in the high end market again. Competition is in the end just going to benefit the consumer and it would be nice to throw a strong third into the mix with Apple and Samsung.
