According to Gartner research tablet sales will increase by 23.9% this year reaching 256 million units. The firm also points out that tablet sales will slow down because there be lower demand for tablets with smaller screens and a shift in South-East Asia towards phablets is taking place.
“The next wave of adoption will be driven by lower price points rather than superior functionality,” Gartner Research Director Ranjit Atwal commented.
Regardless of growth slowing down, they predict that shipments in 2015 will go up to 321 million units.
The PC market had a rough year in 2013, it decreased by 9.5%, this year it is only predicted to decline by 2.9%. With that 317 million PCs are set to be shipped in 2015.
Think about this: the first personal computer came out back in 1962, the Programma 101 producted by Olivetti Italy. So within 5 years after Apple created the tablet market with the iPad, PCs are left behind.
